How Does Structured Data Detection Work?

WooRank detects structured data on a website by reading one of three formats:

  • JSON-LD
  • Microdata
  • RDFa

JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa are 3 different ways of encoding information on a web page. JSON-LD is based on JavaScript while Microdata and RDFa are based on HTML.

Our backend then extracts structured data that is using either Schema.org or Microformat vocabularies.

The Schema.org and Microformat items detected and extracted from a website will be displayed in the Structured Data module of a website’s Project or Review.

As it is grey, Microformats detection is purely informational and does not impact a website’s WooRank score. The presence of Schema.org is taken into account when calculating a website’s score.
