What is an xmlrpc.php broken link?

If your site is running on WordPress, you might see a broken link in your Review or Advanced Review ending in “/xmlrpc.php”.

For WordPress, this file is what’s used for offline editing of your website.

Learn more about this file here or here.

The good news that, even though it’s appearing in your Review as such, Google won’t see this as a broken link on your site. This link will return 405 error, not a 404 error.

To fix this error, check the plugins you installed on your site, especially any dedicated to optimizing page speed by disabling Javascript/CSS files. If you have disabled any files, check for one called “/wp-content/js/mustache.js”.
